Clay Pigeon received some press and reviews.
93 Points - Wine Enthusiast, Editors’ Choice - 2016 “Jura” Chardonnay. “…the wine was allowed to slowly evaporate in neutral barrels that remained unopened for four years. No sulfur was added, and the wine was bottled without added sulfur or filtration. The resulting is like a quality fino Sherry with aromas and flavors of saline, green olives, almond cookies, leathery tannins and a spice note similar to turmeric. The “Jura” is a worthy homage…”
From The Oregonian, “…these three new releases might be the best Clay Pigeon wines ever made.“
91 Points - Wine Spectator - 2013 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. "Another name that stood out in our tastings is Clay Pigeon. Owner and winemaker Michael Claypool produced a dense and focused effort in 2013..."
91 Points Wine Enthusiast - 2014 Columbia Valley Chardonnay “…Intentionally oxidized and left in barrel for two years. It's very much like a fino Sherry, with comparable aromatics. What truly distinguishes this effort is the finish that lingers and develops more and more nuances for several minutes….” -
